I. Location: Bucuresti
II. Position Summary and objectives: The hiree is responsible for the rapid increase in volunteer participation in the Romania programs, the execution of the overall management of volunteer programs and in particular for the Global Village / HFH International Network volunteer groups management.
III. Tasks:
• Contributes in an essential and proactive way in developing and implementing the national volunteer strategy and in finding ways to increase the capacity to host teams, both national and international, in different types of programs (new builds, renovations and non-construction) for various lengths of time
• Works with the affiliates in planning their staffing and capacity
• Ensures the planning of international Global Village and national (corporate, church, college, etc.) hosting events (builds)
• Coordinates the hosting of international and national teams in HFH Ro affiliates
• Manages the hosting the GV and national teams on National Office projects
• Creates or adapts (on a need basis) relevant basic material (flyers, info, handbooks, presentations) necessary for the hosting events
• Work with the national fundraising and communications staff to promote the Romanian projects to the worldwide sending programs
• Ensures in conjunction with HFH Romania Construction Manager compliance with H&S rules in the hosting affiliates and partnership projects;
• Supports affiliates in hosting corporate/ VIP teams and other GV teams as agreed between the National Office and affiliate management
• Trains the affiliate staff based on the HFHR hosting standards and training curriculum
• Maintains a quality GV program through management of the evaluation system for the Global Village and national (corporate, church, college, etc) teams and work with the HFH Romania Construction Manager and Program team to identify and recommend the support and necessary changes for maintaining/increasing standards.
• Works with the affiliates in creating a pool of local volunteers to support the hosting coordinators in the peak season (summer months)
• Complies with National and European HFH office Reports & Evaluation Procedure
• Oversees the development & submission of volunteer partnership proposals and manages approved volunteer partnerships; This is done in conjunction with communications and resource development team
• Oversees current national corporate and other volunteer partnerships;
Policy making
- Proposes new policies for approval to the supervisor and national board of directors
- Manages implementation of volunteer programs policies
Human Resources
- Manages assigned staff
- Monitors and evaluates supervised staff and volunteers
- Supervise functionally the Volunteer Coordinators in HFH affiliates, evaluates them together with their supervising Executive Director
- Participate in interviewing the short-listed candidates for the affiliate volunteer coordinator position
IV. Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• Experience: two years relevant experience in the field
• Skills:
- Fluency in English and Romanian, written and spoken.
- Good facilitation, communication and writing skills
- Ability to express very well in narrative form
- Excellent interpersonal skills, experience with international contacts
- Very good Computer Skills (Microsoft Office Suite, database handling)
- Ability to find inner power to survive in a very taugh environment
• Other:
- Willingness to uphold and affirm the mission and principles of Habitat for Humanity
- Driving license cat. B
- Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time
