The Romanian National Council for Refugees (CNRR) under its UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) funded program “Advocacy on access to territory, child protection and refugee integration”, is looking for an Information Management Assistant.

Background information

The Romanian National Council for Refugees (CNRR) has over twenty years of experience in successfully developing and implementing projects concerning migrants` assistance. CNRR provides specialized legal assistance to asylum seekers, refugees and other categories of foreigners through a specialized network of legal counsellors and lawyers.

The Information Management Assistant work in close cooperation with other colleagues in the project and will be supervised by the Project Coordinator.

Main responsibilities and duties:
Produces disaggregated statistical reports, according to the list of indicators foreseen in the project by:
- Collecting and processing information on the demographics of the migrant, asylum seeker and refugee population in Romania.
- Collecting and analyzing data on the general trends of migration at national and/or regional level (number of regular and irregular arrivals, exists, number of pushback allegations, facilitate the analysis of cross-border information between relevant countries, etc.).
- Collecting and analyzing data on the situation of refugees in Romania (e.g. related to access to employment, education, social assistance and benefits, Romanian language knowledge etc.).
- Presenting data in a user friendly and visual manner (e.g. designing data charts, infographics, factsheets, maps with aggregated statistics) with the help of various software products.
- Liaising with the Romanian authorities (i.e. General Inspectorate for Immigration, General Inspectorate for Border Police) to collect and updated data.
- Identifying and proposing alternative ways to collect data that is currently unavailable, with the purpose of better understanding the situation of UNHCR’s and CNRR’s persons of concern.
- Produce regular and on demand thematic reports on the collected data.

• Good command of spoken and written English and Romanian languages. Knowledge of other languages is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in the field of Social Sciences or Computer Sciences/Data Science/Engineering and proven experience in the field of data management and/or statistics.
• Proven skills to analyze statistical information and demonstrated understanding of different data collection methodologies.
• Proficiency with the MS Office pack (especially Word and Excell).
• Experience in working with data visualization tools (i.e. PowerBi).
• Working knowledge of image processing software products is an advantage.
