Volunteers for Mental Health (VfMH) and Pro Vobis National Volunteer Center recruit Volunteer Coordinator for the International Volunteering Program in the psychiatric section of the Hospital in Tarnaveni, Mures County.

Job Description: Job title: Volunteer Coordinator; Job location: Tarnaveni, jud. Mures, Romania; Main tasks: To supervise the work of up to 4 foreign volunteers, ensuring that they are consistently working in accordance with Romanian legislation, the hospitals’ policies and procedures and the aims of the charity VfMH; To work with the foreign volunteers in advocating for choice and independence for the patients, whilst taking every step to minimize risks; To follow appropriate health and safety procedures and promote these to the foreign volunteers; To translate and pass on information between the foreign volunteers and the hospital staff and the patients and ensure accurate and open communication is maintained on a day-to-day basis;

Profile: Mandatory professional qualifications: Professional qualification in health or social work; Experience in providing therapeutic or diversional activities to mentally disordered individuals and groups and promoting the benefits of such activities; Experience in working in a hospital; Knowledge and understanding of the current legal provisions regarding the care for mentally disordered patients and ability to work in accordance with these; Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English and Romanian and to accurately translate Romanian into English and English into Romanian. Required personal attributes: An understanding of the needs of mentally disordered people; Ability to protect confidential information; Ability to work in team and cooperate with people of other cultures; Ability to identify and minimize any risks to patients, colleagues, and the public; Flexibility, self-assurance, diplomacy.
