The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) is proud to present to you the results of the second EU LGBTI Survey – the world’s biggest-ever survey of its kind.

EU-wide LGBTI survey

In 2012, some 93,000 LGBT people responded to the first EU-wide LGBT survey which FRA carried out to discover the everyday issues affecting LGBT people. This second survey, conducted in 2019, provides comparable data from almost 140,000 LGBTI people across the EU, the UK, North Macedonia and Serbia. This time the survey also included Intersex people and young people between 15 and 17 years old.

Data in detail

We trust the data will feed into your work on international, European and national levels. You can also access the LGBTI survey online data explorer. It provides in-depth access to the findings. You can find out the results by country, by L, G, B, T and/or I group, by age and by question. The tool is publicly accessible, free of charge and provides in-depth data the report did not address.

All results from the data explorer can be directly shared on social media via the ‘Share’ button next to the visualisation of the selected results (next to the Europe map or the graphs).

On FRA’s website, you can also find a video message by FRA Director, Michael O' Flaherty, a short campaign video, country fact sheets and other useful material related to the survey.
